New Minimum Wage in Manila – 2017

September 15, 2017
The NCR wage board has approved a P21 increase in the minimum wage of Metro Manila workers this 2017. From P491, the minimum wage in Manila will go up to a total of P512, effective October 5, 2017. Minimum Wage in Manila 2017 - Sprout

This is a milestone, considering that the last major hike took place in 1989, with minimum wage nationwide increasing by P25.

However, a P21 increase is still lower than what labor unions were asking for, and they are likely to continue further petitions, such as a P500 subsidy from the government to be given to minimum wage earners.

For more information about this new update, check out the official DOLE website. You can also visit http://www.nwpc.dole.gov.ph/pages/ncr/cmwr.html for the updated minimum wage in Manila this 2017.

The full details are covered on this Philippine Star article. To compare with the minimum wage from 2016, you can go back to our blog post from last year. We will be updating this in real time, so feel free to bookmark it for any changes coming up in 2017!
