Evaluating employee performance and upskilling is a large part of people management–these tasks help employees and organizations achieve their goals and drive results. But with so many new changes to the world of work, effectively implementing an efficient performance and learning management system has become challenging.
To help local HR teams overcome this obstacle, Sprout conducted a free webinar on optimizing performance and learning management processes. Held last August 18, 2022, this event tackled how organizations can successfully implement these processes by leveraging technology. Sprout’s Director of Product Marketing and Innovation, Eduardo Gutierrez, was the webinar’s main speaker.
The Link Between the Employee Life Cycle & Digital Maturity
Ed began his talk by discussing the employee life cycle or an employee’s journey with their employer. He explained how this cycle is connected to digital maturity, which refers to an organization’s ability to respond and adapt to technological changes.
He then showed participants the five levels of digital maturity in Sprout’s Digital Maturity Model (SDMM). Ed discussed how the attendees could use this framework to improve their organization’s performance and learning management processes.
How Performance & Learning Help in Retaining Employees
As the webinar continued, Ed brought up the Great Resignation trend, which shows no signs of slowing down. A 2023 research reported that one in four workers plan to leave their employers, with several factors in play.
But despite the current rise in worker resignations, there remains high competition for talent. Ed emphasized that companies must attract and retain talent to reach their goals. Moreover, he gave several reasons why employees quit their job, such as burnout and a shift in priorities, and explained how understanding these factors helps companies keep key team members amidst the Big Quit.
A Different Approach to the Employee Life Cycle
Ed introduced a different way of thinking about an employee’s entire journey with their current company, called the employee experience life cycle. This model simplifies the traditional employee life cycle and concentrates on developing employees.
At this point, Ed discussed how development is a crucial stage in the employee experience and described what team members observed during this phase. He also stressed that separation and retention are consequences of the employee experience.
Improving Performance & Learning Management with Technology
The webinar touched on technology’s role in optimizing employee performance and learning management processes. Ed revealed how companies improved their performance management systems and what they’ve gained from implementing performance management processes, citing recent data on both topics.
After presenting useful figures on performance management, Ed introduced Sprout’s Performance+ software, which helps organizations streamline their performance and learning management processes. Ed also detailed Performance+’s features, accompanying benefits, and the expected employee life cycle when companies use the Sprout ecosystem.
A highly engaging Q&A session with Ed capped off the insightful webinar as he answered participants’ questions about performance management and employee experience.
