It’s no secret: The world is divided on the use of artificial intelligence, with growing concerns about job losses from across the globe.

Even you—and people you know—might still be doubtful about using AI.

For human resource technology provider Sprout Solutions, AI can be treated as any other technology people could use to increase productivity—similar to machines during the Industrial Revolution.

“Back then, all of a sudden, there was one machine that could do the work for a thousand people. And everybody was thinking, ‘Nobody’s going to have a job now because the machines are going to do anything,'” Sprout’s CEO and co-founder Patrick Gentry said.

“But people didn’t lose their jobs. And I think we’ll see the same thing happen in the coming years as AI has this bigger and bigger impact. People’s jobs will change more and more, but we won’t see massive layoffs like that,” he added.

Sprout Solutions, a homegrown business-to-business (B2B) software-as-a service (SaaS) company, pioneered an AI-powered operating system for businesses in the Philippines. The system simplified HR processes, including recruitment and payroll.

Sprout is also developing automated chat bots knowledgeable of company and employee information, it said on the sidelines of SaaScon PH 2024.

The bots are an example of how AI can be a “copilot” in various lines of work, like HR and sales, as well as help companies provide better customer service.

“Just imagine: You ingest information about your company, etc. You can also upload your product and your sales training documents. And now, the bot knows how to sell your product,” said Sprout’s chief product officer Gian Dela Rama.

“It won’t know it to a point that it could replace a person, but instead, it can be a good copilot. So, while the salesperson is selling, he could ask a question: ‘How do I pitch this to this type of client? ’ And the bot will generate it for them. So, imagine the productivity and the increase in sales that will result because of that.”
