Sprout Solutions, the biggest homegrown B2B software-as-a-service (SaaS) company and HR tech giant in the Philippines, has been recognized as a Great Place to Work in 2022, according to 93% of employees surveyed in the Great Place to Work 2022 Global Employee Engagement Study.
By bridging the gap between business and technology, we continue to impact the lives of Filipinos by automating daily end-to-end operations across different industries nationwide. We were recognized as a 2022 Growth Champion in APAC and the Philippines by the Daily Inquirer and Financial Times.
What Makes Sprout a Great Employer?
Sprout received a Great Place to Work certification for September 2022-2023 among other great employers.
We maintain a culture that promotes inclusion and diversity across teams by empowering our employees and ensuring that they feel safe within Sprout. We are allies of everybody, no matter their beliefs, culture, religion, race, or sexual orientation. In turn, these efforts empower our workforce so we can bring more value to our clients.
Furthermore, we nurture our culture and people through initiatives recognizing their efforts and promoting collaboration between teams.
Cultivating a Culture of Collaboration
Sprout has built a community that fosters integrity through successful and meaningful collaboration. Our cross-departmental collaborations have produced the most productive and successful projects, such as the recent Optimizing Your Performance and Learning Management Webinar and Sprout’s First-ever Client Summit. These events were made possible by people from multiple departments within Sprout!
Our open office layout is also conducive to ideation and brainstorming, making it perfect for on-site workshops that rely on collaboration and engagement. And after these meaningful interactions, we’ve made it a habit to ask each other “What’s your 1%?” to express something new we’ve learned.
We remain steadfast in our commitment to elevating employee engagement. Our management philosophy is rooted in caring personally while challenging directly — or the ability to display radical candor. We promote radical candor through our culture when we address everyone by their first names, including our CEOs. This is our way of building a culture where our rock stars aren’t afraid to challenge ideas.
Promoting Work-Life Integration Among Our Team
Here at Sprout, we believe that employee engagement is key to success. That is why we make it a point to reward and recognize the efforts of our rockstars, our amazing employees! Below we’ve listed some of our most common engagement activities:
Monthly General Assembly
During our monthly general assembly (GA), we gather all employees across departments where we discuss the month's highlights and achievements among different teams. We also recognize employees that demonstrate outstanding performance through the following awards:
- Value Victor awards are given to employees who demonstrate Sprout’s core values.
- Stand Out Performer awards are given to people who achieved and exceeded their targets/KPIs.
Before the pandemic, everyone would dress up according to a fun, eclectic theme to make it more fun and engaging. It’s an enjoyable event that brings out the best in people and gives everyone the opportunity to mingle with different teams!
Spooktoberfest
Say hello to our General Assembly with a twist! Every October, we conduct Halloween-inspired GAs where we encourage teams to dress up as their favorite Halloween costumes. We hold a competition where different departments design their designated section of the office in a Halloween theme. The most impressive office design wins a prize!
Project Seed
Sprout has Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs in place that give back to the community and reflect our core values and culture. One of them is Project SEED (Supporting Environment, Education, and Diversity), an initiative aimed at making a social impact.
In 2021, we organized a donation drive to provide school kits for the MovEd students in Learning Labs in the National Capital Region.
Lunch With the Founders
Great leadership strengthens employee retention. At Sprout, we believe that the most valuable asset of every company is its people. As such, we want our employees to be heard and cared for at all times.
Our leaders work hard to establish a vibrant and uplifting work culture built on open communication. In the spirit of getting to know executive committee members better, our rockstars get the chance to sit down, chat, and have lunch with Patrick Gentry, our co-founder and CEO, and Alex Gentry, co-founder of Sprout!
Sproutings
During the month of Sprout’s anniversary, we conduct a “Sprouting,” or annual out-of-town event. It’s the perfect opportunity for our rockstars to come together to celebrate another year with Sprout!
This year, we had our Sprouting at a beach resort in Batangas, where we enjoyed team-building activities such as cheer creation, totem crafting, sack races, and many more! The event also featured an entertainment night where Sprout’s rockstars got to showcase their talents. Tons of prizes were given away to top-performing teams, best entertainers, and best-dressed rockstars!
Year-End Party
Sprout organizes an annual year-end party to end the year with a bang! It’s an opportunity for our rockstars to get together and celebrate the company’s wins and successes for the past year. We also dress up to a theme and for our upcoming year-end this 2022, we’ll have an exciting retro and neon theme! Food and drinks, fun games, prizes, and other surprises await all attendees.
Employee Health and Wellness is Our Top Priority
The secret to building a happy and healthy workforce starts with workplace wellness. Here at Sprout, we prioritize employee well-being to improve productivity and performance.
Our health and wellness perks include yoga, meditation, and one-on-one consultation sessions with a professional that help our teams be refreshed and motivated. We also make it a point to acknowledge employee efforts and recognize that taking a break from work from time to time is more productive rather than burning themselves out. So we encourage them to take a break and recharge from time to time.
Prioritize Employee Needs with a Human-Centric Workplace
A standout employer understands how important employee needs are, and it all starts with having a human-centric workplace. At Sprout, we are proud to foster a collaborative, engaging, and enthusiastic workplace culture by making sure our employees feel heard at all times.
But just remember that what works for us may not work for you. What’s important is to stop and listen to your employees since they’re the ones running the engine of the company. So it makes sense that you prioritize their needs above all else.
Sprout is committed to empowering organizations with a human-centric workplace. Our game-changing solutions help prepare businesses for the ever-changing landscape of work. Visit this link to learn more about how we can help you become a standout employer and manage your awesome team!
